“Dreaming” wins Merit Award

In March of 2022 Darlene won an Award of Merit for her entry “Dreaming” in the “Anything” competition held by Gallery Ring.

During World War II, 32 pigeons received The PDSA

During World War II, 32 pigeons received The PDSA Dickin Medal which is awarded to any animal displaying conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.

One of the most memorable instances of a pigeon on duty, the one named ‘White Vision’ who received the medal for “delivering a message under exceptionally difficult conditions and so contributing to the rescue of an aircrew while serving with the RAF in October 1943”

The war memorial told Sydney Morning Herald that the stained glass window which was accidentally chosen by this bird to build its nest from stolen poppies commemorates the wounded soldier, which symbolizes the quality of “endurance”, and the nest of poppies nearby was a “reminder of the powerful bond between man and beast on the battlefield”.

ArtComp2024 Canada’s largest Art Competition cam

ArtComp2024 Canada’s largest Art Competition came to a conclusion last night. I am proud to share that “The Book Ring” was a finalist in the panel’s choice category.

I have donated it to The 100Kellogg’s Art Gallery. So it now has a permanent home. Anyone can see it there for years to come.

It’s exciting when people go to see The Book Rin

It’s exciting when people go to see The Book Ring in person. This is my niece Carolyn Ryan who went earlier this week. I wish they would allow people to sit on it for pictures.
